Research about the security of supply for electricity with IMTRA project

Berlin, 10th November 2023 – Maon begins a two-year research project called Integrated Models for Transmission and Resource Adequacy (IMTRA) together with the project partners Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) and 50Hertz Transmission (50Hertz). This project aims to develop innovative models for the integrated derivation of probabilistic and deterministic parameters to assess the security of supply in the electricity market. It is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). Read more…

Maon enables Accenture to perform Eurelectric Decarbonisation Speedways

Berlin, 20th June 2023 – Accenture used Maon to develop the flagship study, Decarbonisation Speedways, on behalf of Eurelectric. This study aims to create well-founded scenarios for the future energy system of Europe. Energy has remained a high-priority topic on the political agenda over the past 16 months. The decline in Russian natural gas imports accounted previously for 40% of the supply. Further, the REPowerEU sets a target of adding 753 GW of renewable capacity Read more…

Thank You, Happy Holidays and New Year

During the year 2022 we crossed the team size of ten people, developed various new features and delivered tens of thousands of simulations and thereby valuable insights. We thank you for your trust in us and the fruitful collaboration in energy market modelling.  The entire Maon-Team wishes you Happy Holidays and an eager start in the New Year 2023!

Company growth, Maon-Team-Photo 2022 and FGE membership

Five new software developers and market modellers We warmly welcome five new full-time software developers and market modellers to our team: Kaan Gecü, Ömer Bilgin, Baran Gündüz, Esmanur Eryilmaz and Mark Schäfer. We wish everyone a good start and a lot of fun at Maon. The new colleagues will work on tools for automatic parameterization, interactive analysis of results and enable new use cases. Thereby, we are progressing at a higher pace in the development Read more…

Team grows, reserve forecasts with Umlaut and AIT joins user base

Growing development team To further speedup the development of new parameterization helpers, simulation use-cases and result visualizations, we have expanded our software development team and our office. Several new full-time software developers will join us in the next three months. Reserve price forecast with Umlaut There have been publications made with support from our market simulation. We would like to highlight the white paper on electricity trading in the year 2030 in close cooperation with Read more…

Team, users, security and features

At the end of the year 2021 we would like to give you an overview of the most important events at our software company Maon. Maon-Team photo This year’s team photo 2021 was on the rooftop at our offices in Bismarckstraße, Berlin-Charlottenburg. 99% availability and exponentially growing Our cloud solution which went into operation in 2019 was this year 2021 in nonstop use, with the exception of a few minutes during some announced down-times. The Read more…

Research and growth

Research to increase realism As the operator of a platform supporting far-reaching decisions, we see ourselves not only obliged to validate the models, but also to increase their realism. Therefore, research contributions play an important role in incorporating them into professionalized solutions. During the development of new modules the following publications were created, which we will present on September 9th, 2021 at the 12th International Energy Industry Conference of the Vienna University of Technology (IEWT): Read more…

Climate goals, fast mode and new users

With more ambitious climate targets, the demand for portfolio simulations including electrolysers and emission certificate price sensitivity analysis is rising noticeably. Such models were already usable last year at Maon and they have been successfully validated and applied multiple times in projects by our customers. Therefore, our development focus lies now on time efficiency and usability. Towards the world’s fastest energy market model One example is the refactoring of the aggregation method for modelling hydro Read more…

Drag and drop hydro cascades, simulation procedure and Yash Patel

The positive growth trend in the demand for digital platforms continues. A platform development and operation are a complex and expensive undertaking so we are always looking forward to feedbacks and suggestions for improvement. World’s first hydro power cascade parameterization in browser released Based on the feedback that hydro power cascades are not easy to capture without additional tools, we developed a drag and drop interface and released it a few days ago. Hydro networks Read more…

New visualizations, hardware upgrade and Happy New Year 2021

New visualizations of results available New visualizations of the simulation results have been completed. For example annual balances for electricity generation, emissions, costs and social welfare can now be plotted and exported for the entire ENTSO-E area. In addition, electricity prices, imports and exports as well as generation schemes are available in the browser. Figures and maps for unit-wise evaluation in the browser coming soon The visualization of the simulation results will be expanded significantly Read more…
